To this end I've set about converting some of my old wraithguard to carry the new über lethal D-scythe.
As you can see below its a relatively simply barrel swap. Admittedly they don't look as good as the new models themselves but are a good transition between the two styles.
The bases I got from a supplier on eBay. They're quite good and are a good counter weight to the old models top heavyness.
I have over 20 of the old models so will be converting 5 of these to begin with with the option of another 5 to make a full squad of 10 in the future.
Using the full kit I've magnetised the hands/arms so I can swap the weapons as I see fit. I'll have 10 of these guys but will likely use them in units of 5.
I really love these models. The old ones had a ponderous bulkyness to them whereas these exude a sense of elegance and grace more closely associated with the Eldar while, also keeping that feeling of after-death like calm.

Watch this space as I paint these two units up.
If there's any requests to see how I've magnetised them ill gladly post a tutorial.

Sweet! They all getting pimped bases?
ReplyDeleteThe Pimpiness is right smack bang in the middle of the base so the older metal models get pushed off to the side. So I'll likely only have a couple of the older models with the D-Scythe.
ReplyDeleteThe new models being plastic are a God send and I'll be cutting up the legs for more dymanic poses on the Wraithblades.

Nothing to stop you cutting and reposing the metal legs, in some ways I actually find it easier than plastic!
