Building Kholek

I've always been fascinated by this guy. Huge rage filled monster character that he is. But how to do him justice???

So, after a sleepless night I've come across the idea of kit bashing some seriously big kits. Here's my plan.

Body of a Tomb King Necrosphinx. All the hydroglyphs will have to be filed off of course but basically this thing is big enough, has the right form if not the right posture but I believe that can be countered.

Body and head of a Beastman Ghorgan. Again this guy has gravitas as being one big dude. After taking a look at the spure I see the arm options have scope for variation. We maybe onto a winner. Again a lot of filing will be needed to be done and ill be wanting a lot of armour and mail on the top half so this should separate the model from its Beastman / tomb king origins. Dragon scales and spikes on the lower half to reinforce the dragon aspect of the model too.

Chaos magmetism!

What I should be doing is painting more Minotaur marines, what I have been doing is magnetising my new chaos exalted...

Clubs and Campaigns.

I spoil you, nothing for weeks then 4 posts in one day!!

Firstly, I'm helping to set up a new gaming club!
Due to GW's stance on in store ad-hoc gaming, some of us regulars in Uxbridge have started up a gaming club.

for more info find us on facebook at;  " BattleUX - the Uxbridge Gaming Club "
http://www.facebook.com/groups/495062867198455/

Secondly me and another of the founders of the club are wanting to put together a fluff based narrative WFB campaign based around his Empire army trying to root out my Warriors of Chaos on the northern Kislev boarders.  So far I've thought up the following;

Battle 1) Scouts - 1000pts
Attacker: Empire - cavalry, skirmishers, light infantry 1 x hero level character
Defender: Warriors of Chaos (marauders only) 1 x hero level chracter

Basically to kick off the campaign and get our chops into the spirit of the game this small skirmish type battle should see us off well. A quick moving Empire army sweeps and clears the chaos foothills.

Battle 2) Forces joined - 2000 points
A full tilt battle the only restriction of which is to keep the Warriors of chaos list to mortals only.

Battle 3) Stop the summonning - 1000 points
A specialist scenario where by my sorceror attempts to summon 3 units of Tzeentch Daemons and the Empire Warrior priest tries to stop him. Hopefully by knocking his head off!

I imagine writting up 3 unique summonning spells that can't be dispelled in order to summon the Daemons. NO FAIR I hear you say but hold up! No, the Daemons won't be summoned for use in this game but for the next game....

Empire: Army musy include 1 x warrior priest
Chaos: army must include 1 x Sorcerer.

Batte 4) The reconning - 2000 points
bigest battel of them yet!

Empire: 2400 pts
Chaos: 2000 points + summond Daemons

what do you think?

Daemons! Because I couldn't help it...

So I've been collecting a Warriors of chaos army, To begin with mainly infantry based, mainly Khornate. But having being influenced by the allies rules in 40k I wanted to do something similar in the Fantasy realm.

And here's where Tzeentch daemons come in. Now I may be starting to collect these types of Daemons at completely the wrong time, rumours of nerfed screamers and points hikes for flamers abound, but adding these guys to my Warriors list will take care of my lack of Magic and shooting on one fell swoop.

To this end I decided a while a go to getter following;

Herald of Tzeench
20 horrors
6 Flamers
4 screamers

Coupled with my warriors list these guys should fit in well.

A course of other teasers, I've kit bashed my new bull ogres with the spares I had left over from the dragon ogres for some scary looking Khornate Bulls.

I think I need some chain mail on them though....

Minotaur update

Shoving my Warriors of Chaos aside for just a small moment I managed to get 5 more Minotaurs into game ready status.
I still need to do the chapter icon shoulder pads. I also need to work out how I'm going to do squad markings.

Also put a couple more coats on my second razorback and the predator.

Choas Mounted horde!

With the new Chaos army book coming out I saw the opportunity to field an entirely cavalry army and grabbed at it with both hands. I then immediately broke my 'Cav only' rule as I'm going to be rocking some monsters in there too. Who wouldn't want Khorne Orgres charging in with 5 attacks each and their Bull charge! and with a movement of 6 they're not exactly slow. So basically I'm making a 'Fast' Chaos army rather than a full cavalry one.

To this effect I needed a bunker unit to put my characters in, namely a Level 2 Nurgle Sorcerer and an Exalted BSB. Step up the humble Marauder horsemen. These guys are no slouches as fast cav go and can be tooled up in all manor of ways. as they're going to be a bunker unit I don't need them to do anything fancy and so I'm keeping them cheap as chips with their only upgrades being shields and the mark of Nurgle. Now all I have to do is build and paint the 14 I need :)))

I managed to bag 12 Marauder Horsemen on ebay in various states of dis repair, and here they are...

Here is a tower of bitz boxes (my wife sorted and separated all the bitz. she has OCD. Of course I'm very thankful!!)... and another box full of bitz on sprues...

I had 5 axe weilding Horsemen already so managed to put together a unit of 5 Javelin chuckers too!!!
I now have all variations of Marauder horsemen :))

Built stuff, boring stuff and odd stuff

My fully built dragon Ogres, these guys will break face!

Boring but got to be done, base coated the bases of my Minotaur marines and base coated their back packes.

A package which was for the wife and wasn't my rare earth magnets from Ox. Dissapointing.

And a big box of plasters because my wife is fed up with my bleeding everywhere from nerd wounds...

Warriors of Chaos once more!

It's been a while but here I am with some new Warriors of Chaos things.

The new army book is really impressive. I'm glad to see Daemonic animosity is back but without breaking the balance of the army list.

Marauders are more expensive and warriors have got a little cheaper. To combat huge hordes marks and now paid for per model rather than per unit. Makes more sense. Strangely though in the first list I built I retired my 40 strong marauder regiment in favour of an unmarked 30 strong unit of warriors.

Chariots are now core and my local indi retailer had already run out of them! I went for a unit of the new dragon ogres. The prospect of Monsterous cavalry tearing into the enemy was too much to pass up.

Ogres are cheaper and now behave more like Ogre Kingdoms bulls so I may be looking at a unit of 6 of them at some point.

One big vibe on the net is that combat characters are butchers and we're going to see a lot of top heavy armies.

I think with the amount of cavalry, monstrous cavalry and that War hounds now count towards core allocation we 're going to see a lot of fast, hard hitting chaos armies.

On a separate note my local GW has decided to stop being a hobby centre and merely be a shop meaning I now have no where to play. Some of the guys are trying to start up a gaming club in Uxbridge so we'll see how that goes.
