How to paint Mauraders

Ok so here is a (very) quick way to paint Mauraders.

I've gone with flails and a Khorne(ish) colour scheme.

The colours used here are;

Rhinox Hide; Gorthor Brown; Kislev Flesh (which looks a bit yellow in my pictures; Khorne Red; Ironbreaker

First of all Prime your models, I'm doing a batch of four as tis is an easily managable number.

First apply Rhinox Hide to the boots and staves of the flails and to the horns on the helmets.

Next goen Gorthor Brown to the pantaloons and to the top 70% of the helmet horns

Next is the Kislev flesh to the...er... flesh

Then Khorne red to the leather straps and to any large plates of armour

Next is ioronbreaker whcich goes on all the metal parts of the armour anf the flails themselves

To finish them off apply Agrax earthshade to ALL but the metal parts of the moedl and Nuln Oil to the metal areas...

viola!!!

When I work out how I'm going to base them I'll let you know ;0)

Hounds!

Oh, also realised I'm going to need some hounds so stuck 5 together tonight.

No pictures of those until they're all stuck and painted.

Chaos redirected

Ok so after some consultation with some guys I don't know on a place I haven't really been... (that made no sense at all)

Looks like my army list needs a little revision.

I'll need some sort of a caster and it looks like my marauders need great weapons instead of flails...

Fortunately this isn't such a big fix as I have a bunch of marauders laying around. Also going to cheat and only kit out the front rank.

Under coated and base coated some chaos warriors with halbards.

And managed to paint the the front rank of my flail wielding mauraders.

Last but not least I managed to fix the wight kings massive axe which I managed to snap off on Saturday.

40k online tournament

The newly arrived wraith guard just finished off the swarm lord.

The wasp assault walkers look for their new target, termagants.

Ok so i think the 40K Online Tournement has awoken a competative spirit. Oh no.....


I loved the games I played and I had a really good time but now I want to build an army to win.

I'm having this idea that my collectors army will be my Minotaurs. I want to build a power armour army that I will be able to proxy for all the loyalist Marine Codexes.

I'm thinking I will start off with Blood Angles purely as I have 1 squad of Sangunary guard and another assault marine squad. And of course the 2 Baal Predators.

I had better aquire the Blood angles codex!

Played in the 40K Online tournement over the weekend with my Corsair army and I have some sad news... I came 3rd!....from last.



Yes the Corsair army was not a great one to take to a tournement and it showed.A very surprising first game win against some horrible gribbly flying Nids was the only consolation to the day.



The second and third games were against Grey Knights. I was tabled in both games in turn 5. Moral Victories were that I killed all the Dreadnights I faced. All in all I felled 9 Monsterous creatures throughout the day.

My last game was against another Corsair list! but with 3 flyers against me I couldn't down the things and so lost to victory points.

Lessons I learnt.

1) Corsair Prince; not a good choice. Expensive and had little impact on the game. I'll be dropping these and aquiring some more Voidstorms to bodyguard my Void Dreamer.

2) Kabalite Warriors were a Godsend against Monsterous creatures. Will be keeping these. however need to be careful as they had their Raider shot from beneth them a lot.

3) Wraithguard apart from helping to take down the Swarmlord, had little to no impact in any of the games

4) AV10 vehicles just don't cut it. far too easy to take down. Unless spamming these  units they are VERY unlikely to have an impact on the game and died quickly.

5)Falcon hulls are also not that hard to kill now but an army full of them may still casue havoc. I think armies of infantry will be more prevalent and as I found with both Grey knights I played, you simply can't kill enough. The corsairs have the ability to jump back therefore missile launchers on jet pack squads could be good but may not put out the volume of fire needed to dent any power armour armies. However playing up close and peosinal invites the obvious dangers. these guys are glorified Guardians and will fall like chaff in the wind against any sort of firepower.

High Elves and the love of the game

I recently bought my little brother the Island of Blood box set whcih he loved. He immediately chose the "noble High Elves" !


My first ever army was also High Elves and so I remember the joy he is having about thinking how to collect the glittering host.

Looking through eBay for bargains and deals to beef up his army has fufilled me with a new love of the fantasy game and has spurred me on to really get stuck in to my Warriors of chaos army and finally make serious head way into assembling it and leting it loose on the bbattlefield.


I haven't played a proper game of Warhammer fantasy in over 10 years, except the 3 introductory games I played with my little bro (he beat me all three times! Skaven really are rubbish!) So I'm looking forward to the new challenge.

New beastmen!

Ok so this isn't a new model but it's still awesome..

Still I may have to acquire the upcoming Beastmen armies book...

Been away due to family commitments and my poor armies have been missing their illustrious leader.

Ok so as a round up....

the 40K tounrmment is only days away and I'm stiull not sure what I'm taking, how I'm getting there and where I'm staying! Thats organisation for you!! I will be taking my Corsairs (updates will follow) but I have yet to make a final list. Also the one and only game I have had my pornce and bladesworn got a drubbing by some bog standard wytches. Not what I had hoped for. Still I'm going to pick up reinforcements tonight from my storage so should have at least another Falcon for some S8 spam. Goodbye Land raiders :)))

as for army swaps, I WILL be selling my Space wolves as my Minotaurs Chapter is rumoured to get its own full line (like the Red Scorpions) with the next Imperial Armour. best thing about this is that Forgeworld books come out once in a blue moon and so I have some time on my side.

There are apparently some new Eldar released and so I'll be looking forward to these but again in the near future as my corsairs are my cunnetly proirity.
